Rittal reorganizes production sites
As part of a reorganization of production in Germany, the enclosure manufacturer Rittal is gradually closing four plants by 2018, expanding two and building a completely new plant in Haiger.
Instead, Rittal 's most modern production plant for compact enclosures is to be built in Haiger and stainless steel and black plate production is to start on new machines. The first compact enclosures were produced in Rittershausen 55 years ago. Now the success story is to be continued from Haiger - with Industry 4.0 structures as the basis for highly efficient production, logistics and communication processes.
The Herborn, Wissenbach and Burbach sites, some of which can no longer be modernized, will be gradually closed by 2018. The same applies to the Rennerod site, which is currently home to a cooling unit production facility. In future, Rittal intends to pool its expertise at the Valeggio site in northern Italy, which has been specializing in refrigeration technology for over 20 years. The Rittershausen and Hof plants, on the other hand, will be further expanded and are to form a production network together with Haiger at . Rittal will be investing a total of 250 million euros in the realignment over the next few years.
According to the company's management, under the current economic conditions it can be assumed that the majority of employees can be offered a job at one of the sites in the new production network in the region. A total of around 570 jobs will need to be filled at the future Rittal sites. "Based on the current state of planning, we assume that between 0 and 100 employees will not be offered a permanent job at the three remaining sites. That is only around two percent of Rittal's workforce in Germany," says Dr. Friedhelm Loh, owner and Chairman of the Rittal Management Board.
