Circular connectors

Inka Krischke,

IP68-compliant and watertight

Yamaichi Electronics adds the IP68-graded, watertight Y-Circ P T series to its P series of circular connectors. This T series features a single-part collet for errorfree assembly, and an optimized mechanism for reliable locking.

That enables higher insertion cycles and, with special pin assignments for high-speed data, interference-free transmission of signals up to 10 Gbps. Here the socket is accommodated in the same reduced space as the basic compact socket of the legacy B series, together with contact carrier and case coding. IP68 tightness is of similar size, integrating the entire locking mechanism, and ensuring re-use of the insulators of the B series. The seal towards the cable is reduced to a single collet, simplifying assembly, and minimizing the risk of sealing damage. The circular connector concept also includes an optimized locking system: The usual three or more latching hooks that ensure a grip when assembling are reduced to two and lengthened, producing high insertion cycles. Plus, the longer hooks enable the same coding as in the B series.
