Expand CAN networks

Griessbach has developed I/O modules for expanding CAN networks in commercial vehicles and machines.

The compact modules with four analog and 16 digital connections enable the connection of decentralized functional units such as sensors, switches or actuators to the bus system. The number of digital inputs can be increased to twelve with six freely programmable connections. The analog inputs with 12-bit resolution are suitable for connecting corresponding control levers, rotary encoders or fill level sensors, for example. Additional devices can be connected via high-side and low-side load outputs. The number of connections can also be multiplied by cascading additional I/O units with the master module without changing the address.

The modules equipped with interfaces for CANopen or J1939 communicate at the typical CAN transmission rate of up to 1 Mbit/s. The modules, which are fully encapsulated in the housing to make them vibration-resistant, offer IP65 protection on the front and can be used in an extended temperature range between -30 and +70 °C.
