Schaeffler announces changes to the Executive Board
There are two changes to Schaeffler's Executive Board: Claus Bauer becomes the new CFO and Sascha Zaps becomes Regional CEO Europe.
At the end of July, CFO Dr. Klaus Patzak left Schaeffler at his own request. The Supervisory Board has now announced his successor: Claus Bauer will become the new CFO on September 1, 2021. As CFO, he is responsible for Finance & IT on the Executive Board. The 55-year-old Bauer has been with the Schaeffler Group since 1998. He initially worked at the American headquarters in Fort Mill, South Carolina, initially as Chief Financial Officer North America since 2002 and as Chief Financial Officer Americas since 2016.
Also effective September 1, 2021, the Schaeffler Board of Managing Directors has appointed Sascha Zaps as Regional CEO Europe. In this position, the 46-year-old will also be a member of the Executive Board, which is made up of the eight members of the Executive Board and the four regional CEOs. In his new role, Zaps succeeds Jürgen Ziegler (62), who has retired with effect from July 31, 2021.
Zaps joined Schaeffler in 2019 as CFO Industrial and Head of Business Development for the Industrial division. Prior to this, he held various management positions at different companies, including Senior Vice President at McKinsey & Company, CEO and Managing Director at Telefonica Global Services and CFO and Managing Director of private equity investments.
