New president at VDMA
The VDMA has a new president: family entrepreneur Carl Martin Welcker. He replaces Dr. Reinhold Festge, who was elected President in 2013.
Carl Martin Welcker is Managing Partner of the Cologne-based machine tool manufacturer Alfred H. Schütte. He took over the family business in 1993 in the fourth generation. With around 650 employees worldwide, the Schütte Group generates a turnover of around 110 million euros. Welcker is a member of the Executive Committee and the Main Board of the VDMA. At the end of 2010, he was elected Vice President of the association and also assumed responsibility for the VDMA's finances in the role of Treasurer. From 2004 to 2010, he was Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW).
The Munich-based family entrepreneur Karl Haeusgen, who has held the office of VDMA Vice President since the end of 2013, and Nobert Basler, co-founder and current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Basler AG, serve as Vice Presidents.
