Developing a drive system for the smallest installation spaces was the intention behind the current expansion of the BXT flat motor series from Faulhaber. The drive specialist has extended the flat motors with gears that are matched to them as well as integrated encoders and speed controllers, which are also short in the axial direction and yet have a high torque.

According to the company, this is possible thanks to innovative winding technology and an optimized design: The motors measure 14 mm, 16 mm and 21 mm and deliver torques of up to 134 mNm with diameters of 22 mm, 32 mm and 42 mm respectively. Diameter-compliant magnetic encoders or speed controllers are integrated into the housed motor variants for speed control. This extends the drives by 6.2 mm.

The system is complemented by matching metal planetary gearboxes from the GPT series, which, according to the company, are also characterized by their short design, high torque and fine gradations of the various reduction ratios.

Typical applications for the compact drive systems include robotics, prosthetic joints, laboratory automation, pumps, medical technology and aircraft cabin equipment.
