Audi combines e-scooter with skateboard

Audi has developed a new e-scooter concept. This combines the features of an electric scooter and a skateboard. The advantage: the rider has one hand free, can look around and give hand signals. Production and sales are planned for the end of 2020.

Audi will also be relying on the e-scooter mobility concept in the future, but is taking a different approach.

Audi plans to produce and sell the 'e-tron scooter' from the end of 2020. The special feature of the new vehicle: although the driver has one hand on the handlebars, they steer with their feet by shifting their weight, just like on a skateboard. The movable axles with four wheels allow tight turning radii. The handlebar carries the battery and electronics as well as a display showing the battery status. A twist grip is used to accelerate and brake. The range of 20 km is achieved by the e-scooter recuperating when braking. The hydraulic foot brake provides additional safety.

The scooter has the legally required LED lighting: front headlights, daytime running lights, rear lights and brake lights. A Bluetooth interface allows individual driving dynamics settings and offers additional theft protection.

The 'e-tron Scooter' should be available to buy for around 2,000 euros at the end of 2020. The project team is also looking into the use of stationary fleets, for example in modern urban districts. It would also be conceivable to offer the e-scooter as an accessory when purchasing an Audi e-tron model. The e-scooter could be charged in the trunk at a specially installed socket.
