Via OPC UA into the Internet of Things

With the current firmware version V3, the Simatic RF600 RFID system supports the open OPC UA interface. This allows the device to be connected via the industrial IoT gateway 'Ruggedcom RX1400' with MindConnect or the MindConnect Nano cloud gateway, for example.

... directly to the cloud-based, open IoT operating system 'MindSphere'. As a link between the real and digital worlds, the RFID system delivers data directly to MindSphere. Its platform-independent interface enables seamless communication with products and software that support OPC UA. Configuration is carried out via a web interface in the browser. Areas of application include production, logistics and asset management. Connecting the RFID system to the cloud opens up new possibilities for using the data obtained from the RFID transponders: for example, containers, pallets or production products equipped with an RFID transponder can be recorded and tracked. The analysis of this data, which is available worldwide thanks to the web-based concept, creates transparency for key performance indicators (KPIs) such as plant availability, capacity utilization of operating resources or energy-saving potential.
