Fit for Industry 4.0 thanks to an update
With the release of Codesys V3.5 SP14, the range of functions of 'Codesys Control' has been extended. The runtime system is now available in a 64-bit version for all ARM/Cortex-based platforms, with optional multicore support for the Raspberry Pi, among others.
Additional cyber security functions have been integrated to make systems equipped with this technology fit for use in the Industry 4.0 environment: For example, users can now configure user administration and communication encrypted and signed using X.509 certificates as a user option. In addition to the core functions in the runtime system, the additional component 'PLCHandler' has been expanded. It is available as a 64-bit version under Windows or Linux and enables any external systems, such as graphical user interfaces or configuration tools, to symbolically access the application software data. This communication channel can also be encrypted and supports simple standard monitoring for less performant embedded devices.
