Balluff
New production site in Mexico
After a year with Group sales of around EUR 560 million, Balluff remains on course for growth and is creating the necessary conditions for this by expanding its production capacities - including with a large-scale production facility in Mexico.
Balluff is investing around 50 million euros in Mexico: From the end of 2023, an additional new plant in Aguascalientes around 500 km north of Mexico City will strengthen the production network. Due to the positive business development and the company's growth strategy, Balluff will also build a new distribution center near the headquarters in Neuhausen a. d. F. by 2026.
Mexico is not new territory for Balluff - the sales location in Querétaro has already existed for 21 years and will continue to exist. The new Smart Factory in Aguascalientes is intended to facilitate the planned growth and also reduce the susceptibility of global supply chains to disruption; delivery times for the Americas trading area will also be shortened. With the greenfield facility, Balluff is regionalizing its supply chain and setting a new production focus in the North and Central America region. "More than half of the sensors, accessories, network systems and RFID solutions produced at the new 15,000 m² site will be supplied directly to the North and South American market, while the other half will be destined for the international market," explains Frank Nonnenmann, Managing Director and Head of Supply Chain.
Strengthening the production network
This year, Balluff will also be expanding its site in Veszprém, Hungary, adding further production space and a new development center. Balluff has been present in Veszprém since 1989. Originally started with 13 employees, 1100 people now work for Balluff here.
The sensor and automation supplier is also expanding its capacities and building new facilities in Chengdu, China. This will make it possible to multiply the previous production level. In future, around 500 people will work for Balluff here.
