Miniaturized laser distance sensors
The 'OM20' and 'OM30' laser distance sensor families with IO-Link from Baumer can be used flexibly in many applications thanks to their measurement performance and compact design.
According to the manufacturer, they offer reliable, surface-independent measurement with a repeat accuracy of up to 1 µm and a measuring speed of up to 5 kHz. All this is integrated into the OM20 in a housing size of 37 mm x 35 mm x 13 mm. For measurements on structured surfaces such as machined metals or wood, the OM30 distance sensor family offers a reliable solution thanks to its line beam shape with a range of up to 550 mm.
The standardized IO-Link interface enables easy integration into the control system and parameterization of the sensor. In addition to standard process data such as the distance value or the signal quality, additional data such as the measuring rate and the exposure reserve of the sensor are also available. The latter can be used as an indicator for sensor contamination and thus support predictive maintenance concepts.
