As a further development of Euchner 's EKS system, the current generation offers advantages in terms of digital access control and operating mode selection, according to the manufacturer. Template projects with predefined functions and data fields minimize the programming effort for integration. Current requirements, such as security aspects, are taken into account from the outset. The company relies on Profinet for communication, combined with safe semiconductor outputs. The included Profinet switch simplifies integration into the widely used bus system. The 1-out-of-n safety outputs are connected directly to a safe controller and evaluated there. This enables, for example, operating mode selection at safety level PL e. Instead of programming the complete operating mode selection in the controller as was previously the case, the customer selects a suitable project and only configures individual parameters via the GSDML file in their project planning software.
