The maximum speed and resolution of the IT5602C are programmable, allowing users to adapt the encoder to their requirements. According to the manufacturer Posic, the combination of maximum speed and resolution has been increased by a factor of 6 compared to the previous version. For example, users can now achieve a resolution of 32768 A/B pulses per revolution at a speed of 720 revolutions per minute with a pulley diameter of 28 mm. The output signals are A and B pulses in quadrature as well as an index pulse that is synchronized with the A and B signals. Thanks to the eddy current measurement, the encoder is immune to magnetic fields and robust against oil, grease, dust and particles. Possible applications include electric motors, direct drives, rotary tables, piezo motors, robot joints and power tools.
