Lenord+Bauer at the SPS 2023
High-resolution built-in encoders with digital interface
Lenord+Bauer is expanding its portfolio of digital 'minicoders': With an MHSSI interface (Mitsubishi High Speed Serial Interface), they offer a resolution of up to 67,108,864 positions per revolution (26 bit).
Compared to the classic 1 Vpp interface, the use of the MHSSI interface enables the direct integration of bearingless built-in encoders into Mitsubishi CNC systems. An additional signal converter box is no longer required, cabling is simplified and additional connectors as potential sources of error are eliminated. The resolution of the Lenord+Bauer mini-encoders has been increased 16-fold compared to the first generation. This is available up to a maximum speed of 100,000 rpm. In addition to the speed and position, the built-in encoders also record the temperature on the b-side bearing, which enables the condition of the bearing to be monitored during warm-up and spindle operation under load. The additional transmission of warning and error messages via the digital MHSSI protocol supports condition monitoring.
