Moisture measurement technology
Endress+Hauser buys Imko
On October 1, 2017, the Endress+Hauser Group acquired Imko Micromodultechnik, a manufacturer of moisture measurement systems based in Ettlingen, Baden-Württemberg.
"The moisture measurement developed by Imko adds an important quality parameter to our existing range in the field of process measurement technology," says Dr. Andreas Mayr, Managing Director of Endress+Hauser GmbH+Co. KG, whose portfolio the Ettlingen-based company will complement. The systems measure humidity using time domain reflectometry (TDR). The time of flight of reflected radar waves provides information about the dielectric constant of a material, which in turn depends directly on the moisture content. The systems are used to measure building and soil moisture, in environmental monitoring and in process engineering applications in the food, chemical and life sciences industries.
Imko's current headquarters will be retained and the current 19 employees will continue to be employed. A new managing director is currently being sought for Imko; the 67-year-old company founder Kurt Köhler will continue to oversee the transition for another year.
