Mandiant is one of the leading companies in the field of IT security and is often involved in major cyber attacks in the USA. Google is offering the security specialist's shareholders 23 dollars per share. This corresponds to a total purchase price of around 5.4 billion US dollars. According to press reports, Microsoft is also said to have been interested in acquiring the security specialist.

Google has set itself the goal of protecting its own customers from any kind of threat. Once the takeover is complete, Mandiant will become part of Google Cloud and complement its expertise in the field of security. Google Cloud offers its customers a range of services, including features such as BeyondCorp Enterprise for Zero Trust and VirusTotal for malicious content and software vulnerabilities. The acquisition will expand this offering.
