Female security specialists wanted

The IT security company NTT Security has launched the 'Women in Cybersecurity Awards'. The aim is to recognize outstanding and talented female experts in cybersecurity.

Female security professionals are far too inconspicuous! NTT Security wants to change this and bring them into the public eye with the 'Women in Cybersecurity Awards'.

"There has always been a huge gender imbalance in IT security, with women clearly in the minority," explains Kai Grunwitz, Senior Vice President EMEA at NTT Security. "This situation should be changed as quickly as possible, because increasing the proportion of women can help to reduce the general shortage of skilled workers in the industry and master the many challenges facing our society," continues Grunwitz. "With the new 'Women in Cybersecurity Awards', we want to give talented women in our industry the attention they deserve."

The new awards, which NTT Security has created in collaboration with Global Digital Women (GDW) - an international network of women shapers in the digital industry - are also designed to encourage young women to consider a career in the sector.

Two competition categories

On the one hand, every woman can apply for the award herself and, on the other hand, female experts in cyber security can also be nominated. There are two categories for applications: "Newcomer" for women who have only been working in cybersecurity for twelve months and "Professional" for women who have been working in the sector for more than five years.

The deadline for applications is August 16, 2019 for the DACH region and September 13, 2019 for Northern Europe including Benelux, the UK and Scandinavia. The finalists will be selected by a panel of independent experts. The winners will be announced at the cybersecurity conference 'Information Security World', which NTT Security organizes together with partner companies of the NTT Group, on 17 September 2019 in Vienna and on 15 October 2019 in London.
