Buffer zone shortened

If you are dimensioning a travel drive or a linear drive, you need to install a mechanical buffer at the end of the travel path to be on the safe side. LTI Motion offers the solution here. In the relevant standard for storage and retrieval machines, for example, the speed to be taken into account for the buffer design may be reduced to 70 % for the calculation if safety functions in accordance with DIN EN 528 are used. As the speed is included in the calculation of the buffer zone in quadratic form, this safety function reduces the length of the buffer zone to less than half. This principle can also be applied to travel drives and linear axes outside of storage and retrieval machines. Among other things, the company offers the necessary safety functions such as SLS (Safe Limited Speed) or SCA (Safe CAM = safe cam) integrated in the ServoOne servo drive system or in the SystemOne CM automation system. This means that the buffer zone can also be shortened here with safe monitoring of the travel drive. This gives the machine more space for the active working path: it becomes smaller or faster.
