German robotics and automation
Last year, the German robotics and automation industry posted record sales - this was announced by the VDMA at the beginning of June 2016. The association has now broken down its figures further at Automatica 2016.

Automatica, the biennial 'Trade Fair for Automation and Mechatronics', will exceed the number of exhibitors from 2014 this year. Computer&AUTOMATION shows a selection of the new products presented by the 825 or so exhibitors in Munich in a picture gallery.
One of the exhibition areas at Automatica is robotics. A topic that will certainly be the subject of much discussion there: Is the breakthrough of smart robots imminent or how practicable are available concepts of direct human-robot cooperation - and collaboration?

From June 21 to 24, the automation industry will meet at Automatica in Munich. Taking part for the first time: the accompanying trade fair 'IT2Industry', which focuses on the fusion of IT and industry.

The use of robots in medium-sized companies is increasing rapidly: 81% of automation decision-makers in Germany who took part in the 'Automatica Trend Index' study believe this. The use of collaborative robots in particular appears to have a promising future.

The German robotics and automation industry posted record sales of over 12 billion euros in 2015 - an increase of 7% compared to the previous year. The outlook for 2016 is more subdued.

Cooperation between humans and robots - HRC for short - is considered one of the main pillars of Industry 4.0. But how can HRC be implemented economically in SMEs? The 'Human-Robot Forum', which takes place in Stuttgart from October 17 to 18, provides answers.

Midea, one of the world's leading manufacturers of household appliances, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems based in China, today announced a public takeover offer for all outstanding shares of the Augsburg-based Kuka Group.

The projects of Festo's 'Bionic Learning Network' are always worth an eye-catcher. This year, the company presented the indoor flying object 'FreeMotionHandling' at the Hannover Messe.

WHN Technologies from Grabenstätt impressed the jury of this year's Robotics Award. It honors innovative, applied robot solutions. Computer&AUTOMATION took a closer look at the three finalists.
At the Hannover Messe, Kuka presented the KR 3, the most compact model in its Agilus family of small robots to date. With this robot, the Augsburg-based company wants to enter a new market environment: electronics production.

International Federation of Robotics (IFR)
The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has announced the sales figures for 2015. According to the figures, the number of industrial robots sold worldwide last year reached the mark of around 240,000 units for the first time.

Motoman MH600 from Yaskawa is tailored to the needs of classic handling and general applications.

Schunk is launching a mobile, anthropomorphic gripper arm on the market that can be intuitively programmed virtually, optionally reacts to collisions and enables different gripping operations in immediate succession.

B&R is expanding its modular 'mapp Technology' software kit: 'mapp Robox' and 'mapp Teach' can be used to parameterize and commission any robot kinematics. With 'mapp Robox', any robot kinematics with up to 15 axes can be controlled.

According to the manufacturer Stäubli, the robots of the 'TX2' series offer new safety functions and thus possibilities for human-robot collaboration in addition to increased performance in all aspects.

Thanks to their two-arm structure, the Scara robots in Kawasaki's Duaro series can perform real, independent two-arm tasks which, according to the manufacturer, could previously only be carried out by humans in this complex manner.

Made in China 2025 - this is the motto under which China aims to become a high-tech nation. The 'SPS-Industrial Automation Fair' (SIAF) took place in Guanghzou at the beginning of March. Computer&AUTOMATION investigated the level of automation technology in China.

Hahn Robotics launches the Sawyer collaborative robot from Rethink Robotics on the German market. Weighing 19 kg, it has seven degrees of freedom/joints with a reach of 1260 mm in a 360° radius.
