Without special robot programming

Comau has released the Comau Next Generation Programming Platform, a protocol that uses the Uniform Robotics Data Interface (URDI) communication standard to simplify robot programming.

The implementation facilitates the integration of Comau's robot family into Siemens' 'Simatic Robot Library'. Operators can program one or more Comau robots via the Siemens ecosystem. All automation products and cells can be managed without special qualification in robot programming.

Apart from the automotive industry, there are a wide range of possible applications, such as end-of-line processes, pick-and-place or the handling of packaging and palletizing processes in logistics. It is also possible to program Comau's robots as individual processes using the 'Virtual PLC Controller' from Siemens. This allows end users and system integrators to complete the programming sequence, download the program on site and put the robot into operation immediately.
