According to the industry association, growth is expected to amount to 10%. "The order books for robotics and automation are currently well filled and we are seeing a positive investment climate in our key customer industries. With our existing forecast for 2021 of +11%, we are on the home straight. This means there is a good chance that we will return to exactly our pre-crisis level of 2019 in 2022 with industry sales of EUR 14.7 billion. The prerequisite for this is that the current disruptions in supply chains do not significantly intensify," says Frank Konrad, Chairman of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association and CEO of Hahn Automation in Rheinböllen.

Europe's highest robot density

In December 2021, the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) reportedthat Germany is the most automated economy in Europe. In this country, the robot density, i.e. the number of industrial robots per 10,000 employees, is 371 units (2020) - a record figure.
