Continental has worked with the AWS Prototyping and Cloud Engineering (PACE) team to accelerate the development of the software stack for autonomous robots and implement the first version of the software solutions. According to the provider, the cooperation between Continental and AWS enables customers to manage the use of robots more efficiently throughout their entire life cycle. Functions such as remote debugging and remote monitoring or the optimization of the qualification and onboarding process for the use of the robots can be realized through detailed simulations. The software stack also enables on-demand computing for AI modules, for example to support safe navigation. The collaboration continues the long-standing relationship between AWS and Continental and combines Continental's expertise in AMR technology with the cloud capabilities of AWS.

Control and monitoring of AMR fleets

Continental's AMR solutions include robotic hardware, an autonomy software stack and AI-powered fleet management software. Using AWS services, Continental Mobile Robots is developing a cloud-based mobile robot management platform that gives customers and partners the flexibility to customize solutions to their unique industry needs. This scalable and flexible platform for the successful deployment and operation of AMR is built on AWS services by a global team of Continental Mobile Robots experts. AWS provides support and industry-specific consulting. By leveraging AWS' serverless computing, analytics, machine learning and other advanced capabilities, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Continental Mobile Robots aims to improve its technology infrastructure.

Mobile robots for intralogistics and agriculture

Continental Mobile Robots is part of Continental's Automotive sector. The focus is currently on two product lines - intralogistics and agriculture - for autonomous mobile robots. The intralogistics AMR is already being used at automotive and intralogistics sites in Europe, Asia and North America. The solution for agriculture will be available on the market by the end of 2024. It is based on a modular concept that is based on a self-propelled robot platform and is used in controlled environments such as greenhouses. This can be equipped with various attachments from partners to autonomously perform tasks such as ultraviolet light treatment, selective harvesting or round-the-clock plant monitoring.
