4NE-1 is not a research study, but a smart robot suitable for everyday use that can work safely alongside humans. According to the manufacturer, 4NE-1 can be "a companion, supporter or anything a person wants it to be, based on their individual needs". It can take on various tasks - in industry as well as in healthcare or at home. The robot can support older people, tidy up or take on repetitive and dangerous tasks. Thanks to sensitive sensor technology and high precision and repeat accuracy, it can balance itself. The robot moves over a wide variety of terrain and climbs stairs while safely carrying and balancing objects weighing up to 20 kg.

In addition to artificial intelligence, force-torque sensors and other hardware and software components, Neura Robotics relies on 'Touchless Safe Human Detection' technology, which enables the robot to interact safely with humans at its side. The artificial intelligence recognizes different human voices, languages, tonality and emotions and enables intuitive interaction with the robot through speech and gestures. The combination of known and novel robot hardware enables the robot to perform all kinds of movements: It can walk forwards and backwards, climb stairs and turn or bend.
