More than 5,000 robots sold for the first time

Fanuc Germany closed the past financial year with record sales. Both the "General Industry" division and the "Automotive" activities contributed to this.

Specifically, Fanuc Germany 's turnover in the past financial year amounted to 226.4 million euros. The largest contributor to turnover was the "Robots" division - in line with the parent company, whose annual report shows robotics as the strongest division for the first time. In terms of incoming orders, Fanuc Germany clearly exceeded the 5,000 robot mark for the first time. This corresponds to a market share of over 25%, especially as the VDMA Robotics and Automation Association reports a volume of 21,531 robots for the same period.

Fanuc Germany's new showroom in Neuhausen is expected to go into 'visitor mode' in the fall. All product areas will then be presented in a permanent in-house exhibition on an area of over 1,000 m². The expansion of the European development center is also on schedule. Projects are to be initiated here and realized together with developers in Japan in the form of new products in robotics and its peripherals, control technology and software.

Details on the CR-15iA collaborative robot

At the recent Automatica trade fair, Fanuc presented a new member of its collaborative robot series: the 15 kg 'CR-15iA' model. It is intended to close the gap between the smaller CR-4iA/CR-7ia models and the CR-35iA. The CR-15iA is based on the industrial series robot M-10iD. In contrast to the latter, however, it has an axis limitation between axes 2 and 3 so that there is no risk of jamming. This safety mode can be switched off via the DCS (Dual Check Safety) software if the robot is to be operated in fully automatic mode.

The collaborative 15 kg robot is aimed at the same industrial applications as the M-10iD: handling and use in logistics for packaging tasks. "However, we also see it being used in quality control, an area that is still heavily characterized by manual activities that can now be easily automated," says Fanuc. In the X direction, the robot has a reach of 1,441 mm, in the Y direction it reaches a height of 2,413 mm.
