Steinmeyer Mechatronics
Magnet-free cross table with transmitted light aperture
The KDT 105 NM cross table from Steinmeyer Mechatronik is robust and free from magnetic materials.
Electric motors are installed in many positioning units. However, due to their magnetic field, these cause problems in highly magnetic environments and cannot be used there. The manufacturer avoids this problem with its KDT 105 NM: the magnet-free XY positioning unit is based on the principle of piezoelectricity. Piezo motors use the piezoelectric effect to generate movement and are therefore completely free of magnetic materials.
The cross table enables travel distances of 20 to 100 mm for loads between 5 and 25 N. In addition, the KDT 105 NM is self-retaining without current and overload-proof thanks to the friction-based principle. The XY positioning unit works at temperatures ranging from -100°C to +100°C and in a vacuum.
The cross table can be supplemented with suitable linear adjusters and rotary units and is also available as an OEM system with integrated control.
