Igus has launched a low-cost robot for damp and wet environments, which can be used to perform simple tasks cost-effectively and can come into contact with splash water. The new robolink fulfills at least protection class IP44 and is therefore resistant to splash water.

The new robolink is made of stainless steel and high-performance plastics. For the first time in an Igus robot, the connecting elements are made of stainless V2 or V4 stainless steel and the joints are made of lubricant-free tribopolymers. An additional cover is not necessary.

The company states that the payload is up to 3 kg and the reach of the 5-axis robot is 790 mm. Seven picks per minute are possible. Thanks to the use of motors with IP65 protection class encoders, the robot can also be used for outdoor inspections. Further application scenarios are possible, for example, in the food and beverage industry, in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors or in tank and container cleaning.
