Slewing ring bearings for automation applications

Igus is expanding its PRT-04 rotary table bearings with additional sizes with internal and external toothing and detent function.

The PRT-04 slewing ring bearings from Igus have been specially developed for use in movements in confined spaces. The rotary table bearings rotate assembly units, operating panels or even indexing tables even at high speeds. The Cologne-based company relies on a modular system for the new bearings: the lubricant-free rotary table bearing series comprises eight sizes. In addition to three external gearings and optional angle limitation, the slewing ring bearings are now also available with internal gearings and a detent function.

According to the company, the bearings are maintenance-free. This is made possible by radially and axially acting sliding elements between the inner and outer rings of the bearing. The sliders made of the high-performance plastic iglidur J ensure that friction and wear are minimized even without lubrication.

Modular system for flat rotary table bearing series PRT-04

The corrosion-resistant slewing rings PRT-04 have been specially developed for use in compact installation spaces with loads of up to 48,000 N. Compared to the PRT-01, the new series requires only half the space, is 60 % lighter and costs 20 % less. The company is therefore targeting various applications, including in automation technology, automated guided vehicles and the packaging industry.

Compact drive with internal gearing and new latching function

The flat and lightweight slewing rings are available in a total of eight sizes from 20 to 300 mm. In addition to accessories such as drive journals, variable mounting plates and clamping levers, Igus offers three external gearings and also an internal gear for very limited installation spaces. The rotary table bearings can be driven by drive belts or gear wheels, which the Cologne-based plastics specialist produces by injection molding from highly wear-resistant tribo-polymers.

igus has also developed a rotary table bearing with a detent function especially for applications such as assembly tables where work is repeated. The detent points are either fixed at 90° each or can be individually defined at the customer's request. For special areas of application, the company supplies a rotary table bearing version with conductive sliding elements to prevent ESD-compliant electrical charging. As with all igus products, the service life of the rotary table bearings can also be calculated online for the respective application.
