Kuka invests in Augsburg site

Robot manufacturer Kuka plans to invest more than 100 million euros in the expansion and modernization of its headquarters in the east of Augsburg in the coming years, according to Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of Kuka AG, in a press conference.

The acquisition of Kuka by the Chinese investor Midea was completed at the beginning of January.

The construction projects include a new multi-storey parking lot with 1,000 parking spaces, a new production hall on two levels, a new training center and an office tower. The new buildings are to be completed step by step by 2025 and will provide space for a total of 1,600 workplaces.

Kuka CEO Dr. Till Reuter: "Our home base offers important conditions for our development. Key aspects of this are participation in start-ups and partnerships with business and science."

According to Reuter, this will not only create opportunities for new jobs and a modern working environment, but also compensate for a lack of space. Furthermore, the planned 'Kuka Campus' is intended to promote start-ups and partnerships with other companies and the Augsburg Innovation Park.

Kuka already inaugurated its new development and technology center on Zugspitzstrasse in Augsburg last summer. With the new concept, training, production and additional office space will now be brought into a modern and modularly expandable structure.
