AI-based robotics
Intrinsic and Siemens work together
The aim of the collaboration between Intrinsic and Siemens is to make industrial robotics accessible and easier to use for manufacturing SMEs. More efficient interfaces between automation and robotics systems are being researched.
Siemens and Intrinsic want to accelerate the integration of AI-based robotics and automation technology. The companies announced the collaboration in the run-up to automatica in Munich (June 27 - 30). The collaboration will explore efficient integration between Intrinsic's robotics software, which the company says simplifies the use of AI-based robotics, and Siemens Digital Industries' open and interoperable automation portfolio.
Intrinsic is an Alphabet company with a team of robotics and AI experts in the fields of perception, machine learning and reinforcement learning in particular. With its automation engineers and software developers, Siemens Digital Industries contributes know-how in industrial automation technology to the cooperation.
OT meets IT - testing new methods
Currently, the development and runtime environments for AI-based robotics on the one hand and automation components on the other differ in their development paradigms and make integration cumbersome, Siemens explains the background. For example, the use of complex robot features such as path planning and AI-based control usually requires entire teams of technical experts. The two companies want to develop new methods to close the current gaps between robotics, automation technology and IT development.
