Vision-based navigation of micro-drones for the systematic inspection of structures: Inspecting buildings today is still costly and time-consuming. If microdrones are used, they currently still require qualified and experienced pilots to carry out this demanding task. There is also a lack of precise positioning information for documenting possible damage. The 'TUM Flyers' team, on the other hand, uses vision-based technologies developed in-house for autonomous drones. The drones carry out an automatic inspection mission using user-defined waypoints without GPS reception. Images collected during some of these flights are examined by an automatic detection system for possible changes or damage.
