Endress+Hauser

Inka Krischke,

The cloud-only sensor

At Endress+Hauser, visitors will experience live how they can use data from the field efficiently with intelligent measuring devices and an IIoT cloud - including a new solution for level measurement, as Dietmar Haag, Head of Level Measurement, explains.

Dietmar Haag: "The 'FWR30' is another milestone in Endress+Hauser's digitalization strategy."

Mr. Haag, what is special about your exhibit 'FWR30'?

Dietmar Haag:
Our 'Micropilot FWR30' is a self-sufficient, battery-operated radar device for level measurement in mobile or remote plastic tanks or containers, so-called IBCs or intermediate bulk containers. The sensor is very easy to install and requires no cabling or external power supply.

What is the wireless data connection based on?

Dietmar Haag: The 'FWR30' transmits data via a choice of different interfaces: Under the term 'mobile interfaces', the free beam radar offers transmissions via a SIM card - for example NB-IoT, LTE-M or 2G.

Endress+Hauser describes the 'FWR30' as a 'cloud-only sensor' - what does that mean?

Dietmar Haag: The sensor communicates directly with our 'Netilion' cloud without an additional gateway. This processes the data and transfers the fill levels to a dashboard or smartphone.

Could you please briefly describe the 'Netilion' system?

Dietmar Haag: 'Netilion' is the cloud platform for Endress+Hauser's digital services. 'Netilion' includes various apps and online services such as 'Analytics', which allows users to easily record and manage the assets in their system. 'Health' helps them to be prepared for unexpected events in the plant. Library' stores and organizes the user's work files and documents and guarantees the availability of documents anytime and anywhere.

And what specific benefits do users gain from the radar-based sensor?

Dietmar Haag: The 'Micropilot FWR30' is a cost-effective, easy-to-install radar for defined solutions. The 80 GHz radar offers intuitive operation and quick access to measurements, history and device status.
