Thanks to positive market conditions, we were able to increase our turnover from 222 million euros in 2016 to 234 million euros," explains Bernhard Juchheim, Managing Partner of the Jumo Group. This represents an increase of 5.4%. This growth was driven in particular by the sensor business, which grew by 7.3% - the automation sector, on the other hand, only grew by around 2%.

Jumo Germany was able to increase the previous year's turnover by almost 6% to 168 million euros, while the growth of the subsidiaries amounted to 8%. The company's export ratio remained stable at 54%. According to Jumo, this is around 2% more than the industry average in Germany.

The Group took advantage of its solid financial position and good liquidity to invest EUR 17.5 million in buildings, machinery, equipment and tools in Germany in 2017. This sum also includes the acquisition of a production hall and an office complex with a conference center in Fulda. "The new property is located in the immediate vicinity of our company headquarters and will provide us with much-needed relief at our existing locations," emphasized Michael Juchheim. The Group employed 2283 people worldwide at the end of 2017. A total of 1,378 people were employed at the Fulda site and in the German branches.

Jumo is also optimistic about the 2018 financial year. This is due to the growth forecasts of 2.5% for gross domestic product and 4% for the German electrical industry. Accordingly, the Group is clearly committed to an above-average growth target and plans to increase turnover by 6.8% to 250 million euros in 2018. According to Bernhard and Michael Juchheim, the business development of the first few months makes this target appear realistic.

New brand

The topics of SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and PL (Performance Level) are becoming increasingly important in the process industry and in mechanical and plant engineering. The company is therefore bundling its product and solution expertise in these areas under the new Jumo Safety Performance brand - JSP for short. In addition to their own logo, JSP products are marked with the signal color yellow.

The core of the new brand is a compact single-channel safety controller with selectable redundant input signals for the measured variable temperature, with which SIL 3 or PL e can be realized. With a combination of the SafetyM safety temperature limiter / safety temperature monitor and certified Jumo sensors, the entire SIL chain consisting of sensor, controller and actuator is already calculated and supplied with a corresponding manufacturer's declaration. As no complex controller is used, no programming knowledge is required for commissioning. According to Jumo, the advantages for the user are that they do not have to carry out any complicated calculations and save on documentation and engineering costs. SIL or PL solutions are also available for other measured variables such as pressure, level or flow.

In addition to products and solution developments, the focus is on consulting. Employees have been trained as JSP product specialists using a dedicated training concept. The SIL competence network is available across countries with its comprehensive know-how.
