Hexagon's 'Atlascan Max' and 'Marvelscan' handheld devices are suitable for measuring parts in a variety of inspection environments such as automotive, rail, industrial equipment and general manufacturing, as well as non-manufacturing restoration projects. The 3D scanners are portable and lend themselves to automated quality control applications as well as a variety of reverse engineering tasks. They allow users to digitize parts without having to worry about mounting or environmental conditions. The integrated photogrammetry system of 'Marvelscan' aligns to reference points, eliminating the need for stickers. As no access to a control PC is required during measurement, multi-mode scanning enables the measurement of different feature types and surfaces. For example, users can scan open surfaces in standard mode and then switch to fine mode using the device's controls to achieve higher resolution on intricate features. Crucially, data is automatically captured in different modes, which are combined into a single, editable point cloud. The scanners and parts can be moved freely during measurement, reducing the time it takes to capture complete part data.
