Around the world for a good cause

As part of the Endress+Hauser Water Challenge, the company's employees raised money for a water project in Vietnam in record time with charity runs. The campaign is now entering a second round.

The Endress+Hauser Water Challenge was launched in 2019. In this initiative, employees cover a predetermined distance by running, cycling, swimming or other activities and donate a certain amount to give people access to clean water. The company doubles the amount donated in each case. Endress+Hauser is thus transferring its business commitment to a safe, economical and environmentally friendly water supply to the charitable sector.

This year, in which the company is celebrating its 70th anniversary, the employees set themselves a special goal: they wanted to circumnavigate the world in 70 days with team activities. After just five weeks, the 40,075 km mark has now been reached. "This success is a great team effort. The Endress+Hauser Water Challenge mobilizes our employees around the globe," says CEO Matthias Altendorf. The campaign is now being extended with the aim of circumnavigating the globe a second time.

This year, we are supporting a project in Vietnam in the Kon Tum province in the center of the highlands near the border with Laos and Cambodia. The project promotes the availability of clean drinking water in a village with 90 families, which is located around 10 km off the main road and has little infrastructure. "We can sustainably improve the living conditions of 1,000 people here," emphasizes Matthias Altendorf. The donations will be used to build a water house in the village center. There, groundwater is pumped, filtered and purified by reverse osmosis. Solar panels generate the necessary electricity during the day. In addition, the village square is being redesigned and the access road renewed as part of the project. Endress+Hauser Vietnam is implementing the project together with the local representative NK Engineering and the aid organization Plan International Vietnam. The first Endress+Hauser Water Challenge project was also implemented in Vietnam in 2020.
