AI-based component control for faster changeover times
Fraunhofer IGD's Marquis software makes it possible to inspect components on the move and in real time.
The software for mobile quality inspection combines augmented reality with machine learning methods. To train the artificial intelligence and mark inspection cases, the software does not require real photos, but uses images generated synthetically from the CAD model. It then compares the CAD specifications with the existing components. The system trained in this way recognizes these without ever having seen real structures before. According to the provider, users in the automotive sector benefit from faster changeover times and correspondingly more case inspections per day. Corrections can be made directly on the production line without stopping it. The software can be used at stationary test stations and on the move. Smartphones, tablets or even AR glasses can be used to inspect the components in the dynamic process.
