Following the acquisition of Zementis, a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), in 2016 and Cumulocity IoT in 2017, Software AG intends to further expand its position in the IoT market with the acquisition of Trendminer. Trendminer is an intuitive, web-based analysis platform for the visualization of industrial processes and measurement data. It is designed to enable companies to detect patterns and trends in their process data, identify production irregularities and make process adjustments - without the help of IT specialists or data scientists.

Trendminer has particular expertise in the development and consulting of pattern recognition and analysis functions for the oil and gas, life sciences and manufacturing industries. According to Software AG, 50% of the 50 leading companies in the chemical industry are already Trendminer customers.

In addition to TrendMiner's headquarters in Belgium, the company has sales offices in the Netherlands, Germany and the USA. The company was founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the K.U. Leuven University in Belgium.

Partnership with Bilfinger

Software AG also announced its strategic partnership with Bilfinger SE. The aim is to significantly reduce the risk, value creation time and costs of an IoT implementation for companies in the process industry.

To this end, Software AG's IoT platform Cumulocity is to be integrated into Bilfinger's digitalization concept BCAP, which will add an "intelligent" level to existing systems and lead to better analyses. This should provide the process industry with an overall view of operational efficiency and the associated optimization potential, thus creating the basis for prescriptive analytics, for example. The new offering is available immediately.
