Cogiscan is a solution provider for electronics manufacturing. The company brings domain expertise in machine connectivity, analytics and factory automation software as well as a network of partnerships with machine and software providers.

"Digitization is one of the Dürr Group's core competencies. With the acquisition of Cogiscan, we are adding a strong team of experts and key technologies to the Digital Factory, a cross-divisional virtual organization for the joint development of digital products within the Dürr Group," explains Peter Bollinger, CEO of iTAC Software AG.

Headquartered in Bromont, Quebec, Canada, Cogiscan was founded in 1999 and is represented with its solutions in 450 plants of customers in 50 countries worldwide. Over the past 22 years, the company has become a technology leader in the electronics manufacturing industry. Cogiscan's TTC (Track, Trace and Control) platform provides a foundation for the smart factory of the future, bridging the gap between the store floor and enterprise systems such as MES, PLM and ERP.

Trend towards greater integration

With the acquisition of Cogiscan, the Dürr Group's Digital Factory is taking a stronger position in an expanding segment: "The machine connectivity business is expected to achieve above-average growth rates as manufacturing companies are under increasing pressure to accelerate their digitalization initiatives to optimize their competitiveness in a rapidly changing global supply chain," explains Peter Bollinger. "At the beginning of any digitalization roadmap is the automated collection of quality data and the need to integrate and share data across all machines and software applications. This is a challenge that is exacerbated by the wide variety of data sources and interfaces associated with legacy equipment and systems."

iTAC Software AG and Cogiscan can already look back on a long and successful cooperation. Cogiscan works in a network with software providers who use the machine data collected by Cogiscan to increase the value and efficiency of their own solutions. These include several leading MES vendors active in the electronics manufacturing industry, among others. Cogiscan has been working with iTAC for over 10 years.

Cogiscan will continue to operate as an independent company and maintain its core business strategy of working with other machinery and software companies outside the Dürr Group. CEO Vincent Dubois, together with the other co-founders and the management team, will remain on board for several years as part of the transition plan.
