HMS acquires Webfactory
HMS Industrial Networks, manufacturer of solutions for industrial communication, has acquired a majority stake in the German software company Webfactory. With this step, HMS intends to expand its IIoT software portfolio.
Webfactory was founded in 1994 as a system integrator for SCADA projects and launched its first own software on the market in 2000. Webfactory's 'i4' portfolio addresses users who face challenges in the context of IIoT and need to collect, analyze and visualize data, for example.
"With Webfactory, we are adding a future-proof software dimension to the HMS offering for IIoT," says Staffan Dahlström, CEO of HMS Networks. "The 'i4' software products enable HMS customers and partners to realize truly smart manufacturing and smart services directly and without detours. We are also excited about the synergies we can achieve with our 'Anybus', 'Ixxat', 'Ewon' and 'Intesis' products, which can deliver data from devices and machines from factories or buildings to the i4 products." Bernhard Böhrer, CEO of Webfactory, adds: "With the complementary industrial hardware and software technologies from HMS, we can offer very attractive solutions for the IIoT for integration into any third-party IT/IIoT system."
Webfactory employs 27 people, including its wholly owned subsidiary in Romania, and expects to generate revenue of EUR 2.5 million in 2019. The acquisition will only have a limited impact on the return on HMS shares in 2019. HMS has acquired 74.9% of all Webfactory shares. The remaining 25.1% are held by CEO Bernhard Böhrer, who also remains Managing Director. The trade is expected to be completed on April 1, 2019.
