The Engineering Base (EB) platform can also be used independently of hardware and client installations on any end device and offered within the company as Software as a Service (SaaS). According to the manufacturer, the solution also offers the highest possible level of data security, as it is based on the Microsoft Azure Germany cloud operated by T-Systems. The cloud concept also includes apps that can be ordered for specific application areas. They are also designed to facilitate mobile access to engineering and mobile data creation for special tasks. The apps are based on HTML5, adapt to any display (responsive) and can be used with Android, Windows, IOS or in a browser. With the separate application server between the database and client, the architecture allows web service-based access to the engineering data. The so-called web communication server ensures direct, secure access to the required information using global web standards. Apps are already available for two applications. EB's maintenance app gives service employees access to all approved plant documents, from P&IDs to worksheets, wherever they are. The second app is used for mobile stocktaking directly at the customer's premises and data transfer to EB.
