AI-based service edge app for drives
Siemens is expanding its 'Predictive Services for Drive Systems' offering with the Predictive Service Analyzer edge app.
The AI-based solution already recognizes the first signs of anomalies that indicate mechanical damage in the motor, such as bearing damage, imbalance and misalignment, as well as critical operating conditions of the inverter. The app assesses the severity of the defect and the expected remaining running time and can therefore predict any future failures. The Service Edge app is particularly suitable for applications with constant movements, e.g. pumps, fans and compressors or motors that do not require speed control. In contrast to the MindSphere App Predicitve Service Assistant, which has already been launched on the market, the analysis of the Edge App is based on the evaluation of very large amounts of data in near real time. The edge-based solution is also used for secure data handling in the plant and reduces costs for cloud data transfers.
