Strong start to the new financial year

Siemens has announced its figures for the first quarter of the new fiscal year: Order intake rose to €22.8 billion - an increase of 22% when adjusted for currency translation effects. The order backlog thus reached a new record level.

"We have made a strong start to the new fiscal year against the backdrop of a difficult geopolitical and economic environment," said Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens.

Siemens was also able to increase its sales: Adjusted for currency effects, this rose by 4% to €18.9 billion. The operating result of the Industrial Business (all sectors excluding Financial Services) increased by 10% to €2.0 billion thanks to margin improvements. Growth in the Healthcare, Energy Management and Mobility divisions outweighed the declines in Digital Factory, Process Industries and Drives as well as Wind Power and Renewables. At EUR 1.6 billion, profit after tax was 42% higher than in the same quarter of the previous year. Joe Kaeser was also able to announce a new record: Siemens currently has orders worth 114 billion euros on its books - more than ever before.
