Siemens honors 'Inventor of the Year 2015'
Siemens submitted over 7,600 inventions and 3,700 patents in fiscal year 2015. Nine particularly resourceful researchers were also involved in this, who the industrial group recently named 'Inventor of the Year 2015'.
The number of submissions from the approximately 32,100 researchers and developers at Siemens corresponds to 35 inventions and 17 patent applications per working day. This is also thanks to the more than 1,000 research collaborations that the company maintains worldwide. According to Siemens, this means that the number of invention disclosures per employee in research and development has doubled in the last decade.
The 'Inventor of the Year' award has been presented by the company to outstanding researchers and developers since 1995. Their inventions must make a significant contribution to the company's success. In fiscal year 2015, Siemens invested a total of around €4.5 billion in research and development (R&D), €500 million more than in the previous year. The Group also intends to further increase its investments in R&D this year.
