S5-H1 protocol integrated in WinCC OA IOT Suite
With the support of Delta Logic, old machines and systems with S5 controllers can now also be made fit for Industry 4.0.
The Simatic WinCC OA IOT Suite enables the subsequent digitalization of existing machines and systems. It combines industrial-grade hardware, software based on Simatic WinCC Open Architecture and intuitive apps for monitoring, control and visualization. Like the underlying SCADA system, the IOT Suite also has an open system structure. The integration was implemented for the new Siemens Industrial OS operating system - based on Linux.
The multi-platform capable communication library ACCON-AGLink from Delta Logic supports the S7-200/300/400 and Sinumerik as well as the S7-1200 and S7-1500. In the course of digitizing old productions, the integration of an old S5 controller into the WinCC OA IOT Suite was required. Therefore, the integration of the old, packet-based H1 protocol was solved by ACCON-AGLink. This saves the user a cost-intensive conversion of their production, which would result from switching to a new controller.
