Okuma buys Hommel CNC Technik
Okuma Europe and Hommel Holding have signed a purchase agreement for the acquisition of Hommel CNC Technik. With the takeover of the long-standing German sales partner, Okuma intends to consolidate its position in Europe's largest market for machine tools.
The purchase agreement was signed on July 5. Subject to antitrust approval, Hommel CNC Technik GmbH (HCT) will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Okuma Europe GmbH with effect from September 1. The current HCT headquarters in Cologne will serve as the headquarters for the restructured sales and service activities in Germany.
As part of Hommel GmbH, Hommel CNC Technik was the exclusive sales partner for Okuma machines in Germany for more than 40 years. During this time, the company has sold and serviced more than 7,500 of the manufacturer's machine tools locally. The entire HCT workforce of over 100 employees will be taken over by Okuma Europe GmbH following the acquisition.
