Drag and Bot GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Keba Industrial Automation GmbH, one of the three business units of Keba Group AG. The transfer of ownership and the purchase were completed in December 2021. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. With this acquisition, Keba strategically complements its product portfolio with flexible automation software.

Drag and Bot is a start-up company that was founded as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production and Automation (IPA) and has been run as a GmbH since 2017. The company and its team have experience in the simple and intuitive programming of industrial robots. The company name is derived from the drag&drop principle, which is associated with 'easy to use' in the field of software. Drag and Bot's software solution is used for machine loading and unloading, mechanical assembly, electronics assembly and a variety of pick & place applications.

Drag and Bot's expertise will enable Keba to expand the Kemro X modular system in general in the future. Among other things, Keba intends to offer machine builders simple solutions for connecting to robots in the future.
