Integrate S7 controllers into PC-based control
A new add-on now provides the additional option of communicating easily with S7 controllers from Siemens using the 'Twincat' automation software from Beckhoff.
'Twincat 3' offers many options for connecting TCP/IP-based third-party systems to the control program: OPC UA, MQTT, HTTPS and Modbus are just a few representatives of a range of communication protocols. This broad spectrum is now extended by the S7 communication protocol from Beckhoff with the 'Twincat S7 Communication' function (TF6620). This product implementation can be used to read or write variables from an S7 controller. This is done directly from the PLC application program - either via dynamically parameterizable PLC function blocks or via an easy-to-configure I/O mapping. No additional hardware is required; the local network via TCP/IP serves as the transport medium.
