Siemens / 2nd quarter 2016Strong result in industrial business

In the second quarter of fiscal year 2016, order intake at Siemens rose by 7% to €22.3 billion - an increase of 10% after adjusting for currency translation effects. The Group significantly improved its earnings in the Industrial Sector.

The Process Industries and Drives division was only able to partially offset lower orders and revenue in the oil and gas business and the large drives business with growth in the wind turbine components business. The planned capacity adjustments announced during the quarter are expected to have a negative impact on earnings in the final quarter of the 2016 financial year. The growth rates for incoming orders and sales are adjusted for currency and portfolio effects (1).
