Developed in accordance with the industrial device standard IEC 62443, the Grossenbacher device meets current and future requirements for a 'secure device'. The current security level can be increased up to SL 3. The controller, based on an i.MX8 CPU, has a Carrier Board/SoM architecture and an integrated Linux Yocto operating system. Soft PLC runtime systems such as Codesys can be installed as an option. The operating system itself supports various Open Container Initiative (OCI) specifications so that containerization can access the hardware directly. Thanks to numerous interfaces, various additional peripherals can also be connected with little effort. In combination with a dedicated update tool, the controller can also be kept constantly up-to-date for OTA security updates via a rollout concept.
