Controller
Can also be used as a secure gateway
The PFC100 and PFC200 controllers from Wago encode data in the controller using SSL/TLS 1.2 and transfer it securely to higher-level systems via a VPN tunnel.
The devices offer a cross-platform real-time Linux, which, as an open source operating system, is long-term available, scalable and update-capable and supports tools such as Rsync. Accordingly, they can also be used as a secure gateway. Interfaces and fieldbuses such as CANopen, Profibus DP, Devicenet and Modbus-TCP can be operated independently of the manufacturer. In addition, the PFC200 family is set up to implement security requirements in accordance with the ISO 27000 series. It offers onboard VPN functionality based on the so-called 'Strongswan Package' and the OpenVPN package. In addition, the data can already be encoded in the controller using SSL/TLS 1.2 encryption. It then establishes a VPN tunnel directly via IPsec or OpenVPN and, if desired, also transmits the data wirelessly to the cloud. While IPsec encrypts at operating system level or layer 3, OpenVPN ensures data integrity at application level (layer 5). This creates tap-proof and tamper-proof communication connections between the controllers and the network access points. An upstream VPN router is no longer required.
