Based on Rasbperry Pi
PLC solution with touch display
The triumph of the Raspberry Pi continues unabated. The mini computer is also finding more and more applications in industry, for example as the basis for a PLC control system.
The new development 'RPi07-Xtend' from Mass is a complete PLC control system which, in addition to the usual functions of digital and analog I/Os and various interfaces, also includes an operating and display system as well as the previously separate programming device as an "all-in-one" system.
The stainless steel housing contains a 7-inch widescreen multi-touch LCD with a resolution of 800x480 pixels for 10-finger operation, embedded in an aluminum front frame. The device weighs 1.1 kg and offers IP54 device protection. It is available for at least 3 years.
The Raspberry Pi 3B+ with its ARM Cortex A53 with 4x1.4GHz is used as the CPU unit. With the integrated I/O and interface expansion module 'PiXtend v2-S' from Qube Solutions, this panel PC is a complete "low-cost PLC" according to Mass.
The CPU contains 1GB RAM, a micro SD card (16GB or larger) with operating system and application software. The board also has connections for HDMI, CSI camera, video/audio and post connectors for I²C. The Ethernet has 1x 10/100/300Mbps; 4x USB 2.0 are also available. The PLC is designed for 8 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs, 4 PWM/servo outputs, 4 230 V relays, 2 analog voltage inputs and outputs, 1x RS232, real-time clock (RTC) and 4 GPIO. The connection voltage of the industrial power supply unit is 12/24 VDC.
The Raspbian operating system offers support for Linux, Codesys, FHEM, Phyton, Node-RED and OpenPLC.
